Since January 1, 2015, the Government of Canada has implemented the Express Entry Immigration system for those who qualify. Express Entry is a simplified, fast and efficient immigration selection system offering permanent residence to qualified skilled workers to settle in Canada.
It applies to the following economic class programs:
- Federal skilled worker
- Canadian experience class
- Federal skilled trades
- Provincial nominees
Express Entry allows you to immigrate to Canada in approximately six months. A job offer will help significantly but it is not compulsory. Under Express Entry, Federal Skilled Workers across 347 eligible occupations who meet minimum eligibility criteria can submit an Expression of Interest Profile to the Express Entry Pool.
As of May 2021, the minimum number of points needed to qualify for Express Entry is 67.
